The Officer Commanding CID Vehicle Theft Squad Chief Superintendent Kirisipen Mutsengi (55) has been arrested for Criminal Abuse of Duty after he was caught by ZACC investigators using a vehicle that was being held as an exhibit at Southerton Police Station.

The arrest came after ZACC received an anonymous report from whistleblowers that there was suspected abuse of recovered exhibit motor vehicles at CID Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS), Southerton, Harare.

Following investigations by ZACC officers, the vehicle was recovered at a private garage at corner Soutter and Main road, New Ardbennie, Harare where it was being repaired.

The accused has since appeared before Magistrate Stanford Mambanje and was remanded to the 9th of September 2021 on ZWL$10 000.00 bail among other conditions.
