Musona Understands Warriors Fans’ Frustration

4 September 2021

Warriors captain Knowledge Musona, was left a frustrated man after his team’s insipid home performance, in a 2022 World Cup qualifier against South Africa, at the National Sports Stadium, on Friday afternoon.

Musona told journalists that he thought it wise to keep his counsel on the team's performances as he could have said "wrong things". Said Musona:

I personally didn’t speak, you know when you are coming out of the game frustrated that you didn’t win, sometimes you might end up saying the wrong things. But, I think we still have time together.

I think we just needed time for everyone to calm down so that we can go back to the drawing board, and see what we can do.

As the captain of the team, I think I have to say something.

We know the country is not happy. We know Zimbabweans don’t want us to lose points. They expect a win but there are three results in a game.

The hosts hardly tested the visitors’ goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, throughout the entire 90 minutes, in a match that ended in a goalless draw.

The SuperSport United goalkeeper was only tested when he produced a stunning near-post save, to send Khama Billiat’s vicious shot, over the bar.

The out-of-sorts Warriors' passing was horrific, they failed to execute the very basics of the game, playing to the South African tune who, from the first whistle, seemed to be looking for a draw.

Meanwhile, Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic blamed a lack of match fitness for his charges’ lacklustre performance.

The Croat said that under the circumstances, a draw with Bafana Bafana was a fair result.
